2013 Koenigsegg Agera Review

Koenigsegg differs from other low volume hypercar manufacturers by the fact that they develop and manufacture their own machines at home. Most observers and / or competitors see this as more or less impossible or too expensive to even consider. Koenigsegg has proved them wrong, year after year.
 2013 Koenigsegg Agera Review

Not only engine developed in-house, they also have the leading characteristics in many important areas. They are hypercar engine the lightest and most compact in the world, weighing only 197kg complete with flywheel, clutch, dry sump system, Inconel exhaust manifold and turbocharger. The low engine weight is quite astonishing as the Agera engine also has the leading power and torque characteristics. Koenigsegg liter V8 bi-turbo 5 developed more than 960 hp on 95 octane regular fuel. The Agera has over 1000 Nm of torque from 2,500 rpm and 1,100 rpm 3500-6000 nm, with great flexibility.

Koenigsegg engines also meet all the required emission standards in the world. It's nothing short of staggering, considering their size and strength.
Moreover, no other production engine in the world, regardless of car type, has the same amount of power potential compared to the EU cycle average CO2 emission (310g of CO2) or cycle fuel consumption (14,7 liter per 100 km / 16mpg). But what makes Koenigsegg most proud is how drivable, smooth, responsive, torquey and reliable the Agera engine - especially given the extreme performance.
Agera engine meets the most stringent environmental regulations in the world, EU5 and LEV2, and provide significant power increase compared to previous Koenigsegg engines.
Agera is equipped with the latest ABS technology, which is based on a lightweight high-performance gaming systems. This system allows the ABS function to react to differently depending on performance mode. Furthermore the ABS braking system operates on a large 392 × 36 mm and 380 × 34mm ventilated and drilled ceramic discs, for unparalleled braking performance and zero fade regardless of track or road condition.
The Aerodynamics of the Agera are honed and perfected in CFD and wind tunnel testing to make sure. Best results over the years even with the large dynamic rear wing, the resistance of the Agera is only Cd 0.33 with high speed mode and Cd 0.37 in track. Though the Agera is a full 2 meters wide, it only has a frontal area of 1.87m ². This results in a Cd * A value of only 0.62 and thus a theoretical top speed of around 440 km / h (Agera R), given the gear ratio and power available. All Agera models are limited to 375 km / h in standard mode, but can be unlocked by Koenigsegg for shorter periods when all necessary conditions are met, such as road condition, tire wear, service level of car etc. are in full-accelerating mode by opening the system settings through infotainment.

Peview Koenigsegg Agera R 2013

The 2013 Agera R has all the features and functionalities of previous year models, but also features new and unique solutions to enhance performance and visual appearance even further. Example of these enhancements are; Visible carbon area on the front bonnet and bumper, new front side winglets, revolutionary Aircore carbon fiber wheels, the new Aero exhaust, the increased power and the raised rpm limit.

 Peview Koenigsegg Agera R 2013

Among many differences to the standard Agera, the Agera R has an upgraded fuel and engine management system with enough flow capacity to generate 1140 hp and 1200 nm of torque on E85 and E100 biofuel. As there is less energy content per given volume in these biofuels compared to normal petrol, the fuel-system has to manage a flow that is similar to a 2000hp petrol engine, which means that the Agera R’s return-less fuel system has the highest capacity of any car presently in production.

As the Agera R is a flexfuel car, it can also be run on normal petrol. As 95 octane fuel has less octane than E85, the power is reduced to 960hp with 1100nm of torque due to the boost pressure and ignition timing being altered to match the fuel characteristics.
The new configurator lets one choose any shade or color combination for the interior and exterior. As all Koenigsegg cars are made to order, allowing a high level of variation was the only feasible way of making the configurator true to life. The configurator is available at www.koenigsegg.com.

Most Expensive Cars In The World Koenigsegg Agera R

Price $1,600,000. The Agera R can burn 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 260 mph. It has the parts to reach 270 mph, but the supercar is electronically capped at 235 mph. With the completion of certain paperwork, the company will unlock the speed limit for one occasion.

It is common knowledge that Koenigsegg makes some of the fastest supercars around. And the latest import from Sweden, the 2011 Koenigsegg Agera R is no exception.
Just how fast is this exotic two-door hyper-machine? Well, suffice it to say that the Agera R is hot on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s tail clocking in at a blisteringly fast 0-168 mph in just 14.53 seconds. Although not yet completely verified, this performance proves that it won’t be long before Koenigsegg overtakes Bugatti and claim for itself the title of being the world’s fastest supercar.

This new car which only debuted at the Geneva Motor Show is so hot that the Royal Family of Oman snatched one up even before it was revealed at the said show. If this is any indication of the kind of future the Agera R will have in the world of supercars, then surely the renowned Bugatti Veyron Super Sport may soon relinquish its throne in favor of the Agera R.
So what makes the Koenigsegg Agera R sizzle?

Performance
Powering the Agera R is a Koenigsegg-developed 5.0L V8 Twin Turbo engine. This robust behemoth generates a mind-blowing 1,115hp at 6,900 rpm all the way to 7,250 rpm. All this power is coupled with an impressive 885lb-ft of torque at 4100rpm. All this impeccable figures translates to a demonic 0-60mph acceleration of just 2.9 seconds!
And the wonders of this car do not stop at the engine specifications alone.
For instance, the Agera R can run on multiple fuel types such as E85 and E100 bio-fuels, as well as regular 95 octane gas. The bio-fuels gives the car maximum horsepower as power output is reduced by about 100hp and 100lb-ft torque when regular fuel is used. Still, that feature is quite surprising by any standards.
Another note-worthy feature of the car is its suspension system. Koenigsegg names it the Triplex rear suspension. This ingenious suspension set up connects a shock absorber and coil spring to each rear wheel. This configuration enables the car to be raised or lowered on demand because each wheel can affect the other as the extra spring partners in series with the normal suspension and dampers to achieve the desired height.
The Agera R is such a unique and powerful supercar that Koenigsegg had to design the wheels and tires specifically for it. The geniuses at Koenigsegg made wheels that act as air-turbines to keep the brakes cool. The tires were made by Michelin specifically for the Agera R to slay the Veyron SS as each tire is capable of reaching 261 mph.

Exterior & Interior
If the beast that powers the Agera R is not enough to make your heart goes racing, then surely its interior and jaw-dropping exterior surely will. Let’s start with the car’s over-all look. The Agera R as shown at the Geneva show reminds one of a cross between the Lotus driven by James Bond as he cruised the Swiss Alps and another movie icon, Speed Racer.
The Agera R is equipped with an intelligently designed and dynamic rear wing. Unlike other wings that lift automatically at high speeds, the Agera R’s wing uses the wind pressure created at high speed to force the wing downward to create wind resistance. Through this, Koenigsegg was able to come up with a smarter and lighter wing that instantly compensates for headwind or tailwind.
Luxury is paramount at the Agera R’s interiors. Satnav, MP3/USB compatibility, climate control, plush leather etc. and more come standard on the Agera R. Quite notable though is its “Top Speed” mode accessible via the infotainment system. Although not a separate key as what is found in the Bugatti, it still provides the driver direct access to unlock the true potential of the Agera R

Fast Car Koenigsegg CCX

The Koenigsegg CCX in essence is an updated version of the successful CC/CCR models. The main aim of developing this car, according to Swedish auto maker Koenigsegg, is to allow their company to penetrate the world market, particularly the United States. The CCX, which first appeared during the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, is so named because this is an acronym that stands for Competition Coupe X, with the X marking the 10 years since the first CC car was developed in 1996.But the X could have stood for another word: extreme.
So what are the modifications made for the CCX? It is essentially the CCR with a lot of modifications made. The front bumper was made to comply with low speed collisions rules, and to be able to comply with rear impact rules, the body was lengthened by 88 millimeters. Additional headroom of 2 inches is also incorporated in order to fit larger people in the car. And perhaps most importantly, Koenigsegg has designed a new engine in order to meet emissions standards and to make it capable of running on octane 91 fuel.

Performance
First, the aerodynamically contoured CCX is constructed out of carbon fiber and Kevlar. This structure contributes to its light curb weight. And just how aerodynamic this car is? The drag coefficient for the CCX was rated at 0.30, a phenomenally low figure. Its design, together with its set of diffusers, spoilers, and vortex generators, is known to generate some serious down force; 60 kilograms on the front and 65 kilograms on the rear at 120 miles per hour. The wheels used for this car are made from magnesium alloy, though it can be upgraded to a carbon/magnesium composite wheel that is lighter by 3 kilograms compared to the standard wheels. Providing the stopping power is 14.3 inch disc brakes located at all 4 wheels.

The engine on this car is a V8 engine similar to the Ford Modular engines that they have used in the CC and CCR. But it was thoroughly modified to the point that it can be considered a brand new engine in itself. Featuring a lighter yet stronger heat treated aluminum engine block; it is equipped with 2 superchargers that are capable of creating boost of up to 17.5 psi. The output is rated at 806 horsepower while using 91 octane gasoline. This engine is mated with a 6 speed dual clutch manual transmission designed by Cima, though a sequential manual is optional equipment.

More
The performance numbers of the Koenigsegg CCX simply cannot be denied. Acceleration numbers of zero-to-100 kilometers per hour at 3.2 seconds and zero-to-200 kilometers per hour at 9.8 seconds indicates that this car is a force to be reckoned with. And a zero-to-300-to-zero time of 29.2 seconds (done by Sport Auto) is a record holder. And in 2007, it held the record for the fastest lap time recorded in the TV show Top Gear, clocking in at 1:17.6 seconds.
There is no doubt that the Koenigsegg CCX is one extreme car. Achieving numbers most cars can only dream of, it is a creation that is built to achieve extreme speed.
