2012 Renault Juke Captur Concept

An unnamed source from within Renault has confirmed earlier rumors about the presentation of a small crossover model loosely based on the French firm's Captur concept shown at last year's Geneva Salon.
The company insider told Autonews Europe that the new model will launch next year replacing the Modus and Grand Modus in Renault's European lineup and will be built at Renault's factory in Valladolid, Spain, which currently produces the two aforementioned small minivans.
The source added that the small crossover model will be "similar to the [Nissan] Juke," but would not elaborate on the extent of platform and hardware sharing between the two vehicles.

In a previous report, it was said that Renault would produce two body styles of the small crossover, a more practical five-door hatchback and a sportier looking three-door model in the likes of the Captur Concept.

According to sales data from JATO Dynamics, Nissan delivered 106,461 Jukes in Europe last year, while Renault sold 48,302 examples of its Modus/Grand Modus models placing it in third place in the small minivan segment behind the Opel / Vauxhall Meriva and Citroen C3 Picasso.
